“Devin, tell him to come see me,” said Johnson after the fight.

Haney answered on X a short time later, pointing to the legal dispute involving Johnson and his father, Bill Haney.

“I’m not gonna say anything about guy.. cause he got a restraining order against me & my pops.. still fighting the case,” Haney wrote.

The exchange came after Johnson (18-0, 8 KOs), the WBO’s No. 10-ranked welterweight contender, turned in a workmanlike 10-round unanimous decision over Christopher Guerrero. Johnson won by scores of 100-92, 99-91 and 99-91, but the performance fell short of the type of statement many expected against an opponent who entered with little national recognition.

Guerrero had success at times, particularly in the fourth round when he landed several clean shots that caught Johnson flush. Although Johnson controlled the fight with his jab, movement and body punching, he again showed the lack of punching power that has followed him throughout his career, allowing Guerrero to remain competitive over the full 10 rounds.

If the fight was intended to showcase Johnson as a future threat at welterweight, it did little to elevate his standing. Haney’s response on social media also poured cold water on the possibility of a fight, with the champion making it clear that the ongoing legal issues take precedence over any discussion of meeting Johnson in the ring.
