Tewkesbury Park has been named among Europe’s Top 100 luxury golf resorts in a prestigious new ranking published by Golf World.

The family-run hotel, golf and wellness resort in Gloucestershire has earned its place on the list ahead of established destinations including La Manga in Spain, Celtic Manor in Wales, The Belfry and Trump Turnberry.

The 93-bedroom resort, which sits on a historic 200-acre War of the Roses battlefield, was also praised for the quality of its accommodation, with its nine Historic Suites described among the finest in the UK.

Golf World highlighted Tewkesbury Park’s “exceptionally good bedrooms”, while previously describing the resort as “the complete golf resort” and “a class act”.

The recognition follows more than a decade of investment by the McIntosh family, who took independent ownership of Tewkesbury Park in 2014. Around £7 million was subsequently invested in improvements, followed by a further £2.5 million of post-Covid investment.

Recent upgrades include a sustainable heating and power system, private patios for ground-floor rooms, new greenkeeping machinery, dog-friendly bedrooms, a new hot tub and sun deck, and air conditioning throughout the guest accommodation.

The resort’s Mint restaurant, headed by Executive Chef Anuj Thakur, was also named Restaurant of the Year at the 2025 Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards.

Tewkesbury Park’s 6,554-yard, par-72 Deerpark course has also benefited from significant investment, including new course-management equipment and an irrigation system.

Course Manager Paul Hathaway said the course was now “as good as I have ever seen it”, with the resort aiming to maintain its position among Europe’s leading golf destinations.

Commercial Director Claire White said the family-run resort’s independence was a key part of its appeal.

“We are unique in that list, as we are independent, family-run and have less than 100 rooms,” she said. “The luxury we provide is good value, with countless small touches to remind you that we are not part of a big corporate chain.”

The latest accolade adds to an impressive list of awards for Tewkesbury Park, which has previously been recognised by Condé Nast Johansens and The Sunday Times among the UK’s leading hotels.

With its combination of golf, luxury accommodation, wellness and countryside surroundings, Tewkesbury Park is increasingly establishing itself as one of the West of England’s standout golf resorts.
