Shane Mosley Questions Adrien Broner’s Focus

Adrien Broner continues dropping hints about returning to the ring, but Hall of Famer Shane Mosley believes the former four-division champion’s biggest obstacle is staying focused.

Mosley spent time with Broner this week and was asked how he looked as speculation continues after a three-year layoff.

“I think that if he doesn’t lose focus on his goal and his dreams, then he’ll be all right,” Mosley said to Fighthype. “Sometimes he really, really want it and sometimes like he don’t give up, but he’s still working, but he loses focus on what he’s trying to do.”

Mosley left no doubt that he still believes Broner has the talent to compete. His concern is whether the former champion will stay committed long enough to prepare for another meaningful fight.

“He has the skills. He has the talent to be able to do some stuff,” Mosley said. “But I think that his worth, he’s got to show that. He’s not showing that he wants to fight. He can talk like that all day long. But he has to really be consistent, really be dedicated like he says he is and he can do it.”

Mosley’s comments come after a recent video showed Broner carrying noticeable extra weight around his midsection, raising fresh questions about whether he has begun preparing seriously for another fight.

Broner has not fought since 2024. Three years away from the ring leaves plenty of room for skepticism. Until he begins serious training and signs for a meaningful opponent, Mosley’s comments suggest the biggest question is not Broner’s talent but his commitment.

Adrien’s career has never matched the expectations that surrounded him. Many fans once viewed him as Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s successor, yet he has fought only four times in the seven years since 2019.
