This was Conor’s first fight at welterweight since Chris Van Heerden in 2022. The weight cut could have affected him more than he thought it would. Garcia landed 33.3 percent of his total punches, with all but 2 of those punches being power punches (Compubox).
After the win, Ryan called out Teofimo Lopez, who was in attendance; security did not allow Teo to come inside the ring for a potential face-off. Lopez attended the fight week festivities, crashing Thursday’s press conference disguised as Jack Hoffman, a DAZN representative, before revealing himself to Garcia and Benn.
The fight would be a super fight between two reigning champions, Ryan, the WBC titleholder, and Teo, holding the WBA title. The unification match could potentially be scheduled for a huge Cinco De Mayo weekend card that could feature both Garcia and David Benavidez.
When asked by the media who’s next, Ryan said, “I want to unify against Teofimo. I think that’s the move. It’s a huge fight, and Teo is an entertaining dude, and it would be a hell of a buildup. And he’s a good fighter too, so let’s run it.”
However, today Ryan was challenged by a former opponent via social media, willing to give him a rematch. Initially, Gervonta Davis offered to fight Garcia at 140 pounds. Ryan responded via X, saying, “Gervonta cool, but he don’t want the smoke. What’s up with you? I went to 136 you can’t come to 147 don’t be shaky now. I need that if you want it. If not there’s nothing to be said.” Davis then responded via his burner account under X handle @MoneyTwofly saying, “No lie for you I’ll do 144…word say it’s a bet!! And I’ll get this shit I’m going through out the way! Just give the word!!

Ryan weighed in at 145.5 pounds for his official weigh-in for Conor, and 144 is not completely out of the question; it is doable. Still remains to be seen if there would be a rehydration clause. Garcia is a bigger draw now, having been crowned champion and having fought as the headliner on Mexican Independence weekend.
He’s also grown his social media following by streaming with popular Kick streamers like Oblivion and Neon. Whoever Garcia picks next, it will be a super fight and will be huge for boxing. Zuffa Boxing reported a sold-out attendance of 18,855 at the T-Mobile Arena with a total gate of $8,030,075.
