Ryan Garcia Tells Critics To “Start Getting To Work”

Ryan Garcia pushed back at critics on Monday after questions resurfaced about the amount of major opportunities he continues to receive in boxing despite long stretches of controversy outside the ring.

Garcia is expected to defend his WBC welterweight title against Conor Benn later this year after returning to the sport following his win over Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero earlier this month. His name has also continued to generate discussion around possible fights against Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson.

I’ve been growing my profile and my boxing career since I was 17 and I got people wondering how I have so many opportunities, everything I’ve been thru and the work I put in both in the ring and out should answer that question. Don’t hate start getting to work

Ryan has continued to divide opinion throughout boxing because of the attention and headline fights that follow him, even during periods when he is inactive in the ring.

Supporters point to his ability to sell tickets, generate social media traffic, and produce highlight-reel knockouts as reasons promoters continue placing him in major events. Garcia also remains one of the sport’s most visible names outside the ring, with millions of followers across social media platforms and regular crossover appearances in mainstream entertainment.

Critics, however, continue questioning whether Garcia receives opportunities that other fighters with similar records would not be given. The subject has become even louder since his move to welterweight and his return to the title picture.

Ryan (25-2, 20 KOs) captured the WBC welterweight title with his victory over Romero and has quickly returned to the center of discussion at 147 pounds heading into the second half of 2026.
