Pacheco controlled the action with his jab and body punching before finally breaking Aleem down late. In the 11th round, he trapped Aleem against the ropes and dropped him with a barrage of punches, forcing referee Ray Corona to halt the contest.
Featherweight Albert “Chop Chop” Gonzalez (18-0, 11 KOs) needed just two rounds to stop Aaron Alameda (31-4, 18 KOs). Gonzalez scored a knockdown before referee Ray Armendariz counted Alameda out at 1:53 of the second round.
Former Olympic gold medalist Andy “Diamante” Cruz (7-1, 4 KOs) rebounded from the first loss of his professional career by stopping Abraham “Fly” Montoya (24-8-1, 14 KOs) in the third round of their lightweight bout.
Cruz dropped Montoya late in the second round. Early in the third, he unleashed a combination that left Montoya unable to defend himself, prompting referee Thomas Taylor to stop the fight at 54 seconds.
In the biggest upset on the undercard, Bruno Rios Jr. (9-0, 7 KOs) earned a unanimous decision over Saul Sanchez (21-5-1, 12 KOs) in a 10-round bantamweight contest. The judges scored it 96-93, 96-93, and 95-94. Referee Thomas Taylor officiated.
Nineteen-year-old British heavyweight Leo Atang (8-0, 7 KOs) continued his rapid rise by stopping Glen “Gorilla” Williams (2-2, 1 KO) in the second round.
Atang dominated the opening round and nearly finished Williams before the bell. Early in the second, Williams wrestled Atang to the canvas, but the English prospect quickly regained control. A sustained barrage of unanswered punches forced referee Ray Armendariz to issue a standing eight-count before waving the fight off at 2:50 of the round.
Middleweight Frank Espinoza (5-0, 5 KOs) remained unbeaten with a stoppage of Luis “Corazon de Oro” Caraballo Ramos (8-9-1, 8 KOs) after three rounds. Referee Ray Armendariz handled the bout.
Lightweight Samuel Contreras (8-0, 3 KOs) earned a hard-fought six-round unanimous decision over Jorge Ayala (2-3).
Contreras repeatedly found success with right hands, although Ayala had his moments and twice bloodied Contreras’ nose with sharp counters. The judges scored it 60-54 and 59-55 twice in favor of Contreras. Referee Ray Corona officiated.
Heavyweight Federico Pacheco Jr. (11-0, 8 KOs) closed out the card with a second-round knockout of Nick Jones (9-6, 6 KOs). Pacheco dropped Jones for the count, ending the fight at 1:31 of the second round under the supervision of referee Thomas Taylor.
