Derek Chisora: ‘Everybody Wants That Phone Number’ As Zuffa’s Influence Grows

“Zuffa like the new chick on the block. Everybody wants that phone number, bro. Everybody wants to be phoning her phone number. Everybody wants to hang out with that chick on the block. May she stay beautiful forever,” Chisora told Secondsout.

The heavyweight veteran also admitted he has welcomed the arrival of a new player in the sport, expressing fatigue with boxing’s long-established promotional landscape.

“Listen, I like Zuffa because I was just tired of Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren,” said Chisora.

Chisora then highlighted the financial muscle he believes Zuffa possesses as it attempts to establish itself in boxing.

“When Ben Shalom was doing it on Sky, there was so much insults on Ben Shalom. This and this and this. He lost a deal. Yeah. And then suddenly Zuffa comes in.”

“He’s got bigger [resources] than Eddie and Frank put together. Do you understand? Yeah. He can do what the hell they want.”

Chisora’s comments come at a time when Dana White’s involvement in boxing continues to generate discussion throughout the industry. Tyson Fury recently appeared alongside White in Washington, while several prominent fighters have been linked with Zuffa’s long-term plans for the sport.

Chisora’s comments came shortly after Dana White’s White House appearance alongside Tyson Fury and other combat sports figures, an event that showcased the reach and star power surrounding Zuffa’s growing boxing project.

To Chisora, the message is clear: fighters are noticing. As Zuffa expands its footprint in the sport, he believes more boxers will be eager to answer that call.
