The vacant IBF International belt represented more than a regional title. Eubank entered the fight ranked in the lower end of the IBF’s top 15 and knew a victory would strengthen his position for a future shot at IBF welterweight champion Liam Paro. Instead, Papot (31-1-1, 5 KOs) seized the opportunity to revive his own career after suffering the first defeat of his professional career against Paro last September.

The fight delivered far more drama than many expected.

Papot’s awkward southpaw style and relentless work rate continually forced Eubank into exchanges, and the Frenchman made the most of his opportunities by flooring the British contender three times during the contest. Eubank answered with a knockdown of his own and never stopped pressing forward, turning the fight into an entertaining battle rather than a tactical boxing match.

Despite Eubank’s determination, Papot’s cleaner scoring punches and the three knockdowns proved decisive over 12 rounds.

The referee allowed both fighters every opportunity to continue despite the knockdowns, with neither boxer appearing unable to safely proceed after visiting the canvas.

Official purse figures were not disclosed. As the hometown attraction and DAZN main-event fighter, Eubank was expected to receive the larger share of the earnings, although financial details for the event were not made public.

Papot’s victory ranks as the biggest of his professional career. The 35-year-old French southpaw claimed the IBF International welterweight title and places himself in position for bigger opportunities against ranked contenders.

Eubank (22-2, 9 KOs) suffered another setback after his technical-decision loss to Jack Catterall in 2025.
