Conor Benn Goes at Ryan Garcia Over Past Losses in Callout

Conor Benn Goes at Ryan Garcia Over Past Losses in Callout

Conor Benn went straight for the throat in his latest callout of Ryan Garcia, dragging up the lowest points of Garcia’s career to make his case in public.

“Got floored by Luke Campbell quit against woman beating gervumpalumpa and got bashed by rolly. I will beat you 💯Theycent and I will get that WBC world title NEXT. Let’s run it,” Benn said on X to Ryan Garcia.

Ryan (25-2, 20 KOs) hasn’t definitively said if he’ll agree to fight Benn next. He’s got other options, such as the rematch with Devin Haney. Right now, that would be the more appealing fight for the fans, who have been pushing to see the two fight again.

Benn is the WBC mandatory for Garcia’s welterweight title, despite not having fought at 147 since 2022. Four years without one fight in the division, he’s installed as the mandatory. That looks so bad from the outside.

While it fulfills a WBC mandatory requirement by Garcia defending against Benn next, it’s a soft mandatory in the eyes of the public. It keeps the belt on his waist, but it doesn’t earn him the respect of the hardcore boxing community. We don’t even know if the WBC would choose to strip Ryan if he elected to fight someone else next.

Fans want to see if he can repeat his performance against Haney. That’s the fight they’ve been waiting for since 2024. They don’t necessarily want to see him defeat a Benn who just labored to a decision against Regis Prograis last weekend.

If Garcia takes this fight, he is also doing a massive favor for Zuffa Boxing. After Benn’s lackluster performance, Zuffa needs a reason to keep him on the roster at a high price point. Ryan would be providing the rescue mission for Benn’s brand by agreeing to fight him.
