Look out, Victor Wembanyama, because the Los Angeles Clippers just signed the one player in the NBA who might be able to block your shot. The team announced Sunday it signed big man Jamarion Sharp to a two-way contract.
The move makes Sharp — who stands 7-foot-5 — the tallest active player in the NBA. Yes, he’s bigger than both Wembanyama and Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey. Wembanyama is listed a 7-foot-4. Edey is 7-foot-3.
Sharp, 24, turned in modest production in college before going undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft. He played two seasons in junior college before playing at Western Kentucky and then Ole Miss over his final three seasons. He finished his collegiate career with 6.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. He was credited with 354 blocks in 95 games.
After going undrafted, Sharp signed with the Texas Legends — a Dallas Mavericks affiliate — of the G League. After a tepid first season, Sharp upped his averages in Year 2. During the 2025-26 season, he averaged 8.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.4 blocks. He also shot 77% from the field. That performance was enough to earn Sharp the Defensive Player of the Year award.
While Sharp’s offensive game seems to be a work in progress, his size and shot-blocking ability make him an intriguing defensive presence. There’s no guarantee Sharp will make the Clippers, but his performance will be worth watching in the preseason.
