It was a star-studded event as the VIP list included Usher, Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Terence “Bud” Crawford, Shakur Stevenson, Boosie, and Kevin Gates. The Black National Anthem was sung by recording artist Jhonni Blaze.

Erica Raven sang the National Anthem, and Claressa Shields was escorted to the ring by recording artist Latto. The energy and anticipation in the State Farm Arena in Atlanta was at an all-time high.

In the opening round, Kaye Scott was utilizing feints and trying to establish the jab. In rounds 2-5, Scott was competitive, but she spent too much time in the pocket, as Shields used her hand speed to land solid combinations.

With 53 seconds left to go in the sixth round, Shields exposed one of Scott’s many defensive flaws as she landed a big left hook that buckled Scott’s knees. Shields would go on to land a flurry of shots, which caused the knockdown.

Kaye Scott took the standing eight count and courageously continued fighting. As the match went on, Shields landed another flurry of hard punches which forced Scott’s corner to simultaneously throw in three towels.

With the victory, Claressa Shields (19-0, 4 KOs) won the WBC and WBA middleweight world titles. Now the question that is buzzing around the boxing community is, will we get a Claressa Shields vs Lauren Price mega-fight next?

A native of Newport, Wales, United Kingdom, the southpaw Lauren Price (10-0, 2 KOs) is a talented technical boxer who has a high boxing IQ, fast hands, good timing, and elite footwork.

As an amateur, Lauren Price won a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Two years later, Price made her pro debut by posting a victory over Valgerdur Gudstensdottir.

In the seventh fight of her pro career, Price became a world champion when she defeated Jessica McCaskill and won the WBA and Ring Magazine welterweight world titles.

In March 2025, Price added more championship gold to her collection when she beat Natasha Jonas and won the WBC and IBF welterweight belts. Now Price is ready to step up to the biggest challenge of her professional career.

After her April 2026 victory over Stephanie Aquino, Lauren Price spoke about going up to middleweight for a potential mega-fight with Claressa Shields.

“She’s a great fighter, but I believe in myself, and I believe you know, I can beat her and what a fight it would be,” Lauren Price said. “To be the best, you have to beat the best. We’ve seen it obviously with what Taylor and Serrano done as well. I want to do that with Shields.”

After defeating Kaye Scott, Claressa Shields stated Lauren Price is at the top of her priority list. As far as timing, Shields would like to face Price in December 2026 or sometime during the first quarter of 2027.
