After Dominating Zayas, Boots Ennis Vs Sebastian Fundora Is Now Must See TV

In the opening round of the unification world title bout, Ennis was sharp and aggressive. At the 1:12 mark of the opening round, Boots Ennis dropped the defending champion when he landed a solid left-hand shot.

Zayas was able to recover, and at the midway point of the third round, Zayas landed a straight right hand that stunned Ennis. After 30 seconds of crowd-pleasing toe-to-toe action, Zayas stunned Ennis a second time when he connected with another straight right hand.

Zayas had his moments, but in the 5th round, Ennis landed a sharp right uppercut that dropped Zayas for a second time. Ennis scored a third knockdown in the 7th, as Zayas’s corner proceeded to stop the fight by throwing in the towel.

With the victory, 29-year-old Jaron “Boots” Ennis (36-0, 32 KOs) became the new WBO, WBA junior-middleweight unified world champion. Now the boxing world is anticipating a matchup between Ennis and the WBC champion at 154.

Standing at approximately 6 feet 6 inches tall, Sebastian Fundora suffered his first career loss in April 2023 when Brian Mendoza knocked him out in the 7th round.

Eleven months later, Fundora was in a world title bout against Tim Tszyu. In the first round, Tszyu was trying to establish the range. As both men stood in the pocket, Tim Tszyu was having success landing solid shots to the head and body of Fundora.

As the second round was coming to a close, a clash of heads opened up a gruesome cut on the top of Tim Tszyu’s head. The cut impaired Tszyu’s vision, and it aided Fundora to a split-decision victory.

Fundora defeated Tszyu and became a world champion in non-impressive fashion. However, Fundora would go on to make drastic improvements in his game. He focused on controlling distance as opposed to trading shots in the pocket.

The transition in Fundora’s game was evident in his last two fights. In the July 2025 rematch, Fundora stopped Tim Tszyu in the 7th round. Eight months later, Fundora was dominant, as he stopped Keith Thurman in the 6th round.

Now, in the eyes of the boxing public, Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora (24-1-1, 16 KOs) is the ideal opponent for the pound-for-pound star Jaron “Boots” Ennis. A champion versus champion matchup between Ennis and Fundora would be an action-packed event.

A Boots Ennis versus Sebastian Fundora bout is Must See TV. Both Ennis and Fundora are pressure fighters who sit on their shots, and when there’s an opening, both fighters throw power punches in bunches.

This potential unification world title fight would feature Boots Ennis’s power and athleticism going up against Sebastian Fundora’s power and his physical dimensions.

This bout is one of the best matchups in boxing, and it’s guaranteed to be an exciting fight due to the fact that both boxers have multiple strengths, and both men share the distinction of having a few exploitable vulnerabilities.
