Back on July 2nd, when the the Red Sox were heading to the west coast 11 games under .500, I asked when the next meaningful Red Sox baseball game would occur at Fenway Park. At the time, the season was teetering, and it felt like only a miracle could save them. Well, I’m not sure if a 15-game winning streak qualifies as a miracle, but it’s definitely saved the season.
More specifically, it’s saved the baseball summer. Three weeks ago, there was a real chance we’d be watching a buried team in August of 2026 before going into a lockout to start 2027. Now? We have a historic streak in the books, a stretch run that matters, and the general excitement that comes with the day-to-day hope that your baseball team just might do something special in the fall.
So for me, we have Red Sox baseball back, and as somebody who loves not just watching the games, but also writing about Red So baseball and reading all the comments about Red So baseball here here on OTM, that’s a thrilling reversal of fortune. I can’t wait to see how the next two (and hopefully three) months play out!
How about the community? What does the winning streak mean to you? Talk about this and whatever else you’d like, and as always, be good to one another.
