Tim Bradley believes Ryan Garcia enters his September fight with Conor Benn as a more complete offensive fighter than in previous years, pointing to the development of Garcia’s right hand as one of the biggest reasons.

While many fans still associate Ryan with his explosive left hook, Bradley argued that the added confidence in his right hand has made him a more complete offensive fighter.

“One of the best things about his game is that he’s a decent counterpuncher. I’m not gonna lie. He’s a decent counter puncher. He knows how to land that left hook,” said Bradley on his channel.

“And the fact that his father started to develop his right hand, that’s going to help him even more in fights because he don’t have to be just dependent upon one punch. He can use both hands now.

“What I did like about Ryan’s performance was he did go to the body as well. He went to the body with right hands to the body as well, and he used his feet, and he moved laterally, and he was setting nice little lateral traps… That’s what he’s probably going to do against Conor Benn. That’s probably what he’s going to be looking to do, use his aggression against him and catch him coming in.”

Bradley also believes Ryan’s tactical approach against Mario Barrios offers a preview of what Benn can expect. Instead of relying almost exclusively on his trademark left hook, Garcia mixed body work, lateral movement, counter punching, and a more active right hand against Barrios.

If Bradley’s view proves accurate, Benn will have to account for more than Ryan’s trademark speed. Bradley believes the added confidence in Ryan’s right hand gives him another weapon to punish mistakes, particularly if Benn presses forward looking to force exchanges.
