Lopez told the media at the post-fight press conference of the younger version of himself who would get mad at not being able to land against his opponent and would invite his opponent to hit him; that’s the fighter in him that welcomes a war.

Teo outlanded Rolly 124 to 73 in total punches, outlanding him in 10 of 12 rounds. He was almost more effective offensively, having a better connection rate in both jabs (17.7%) and power punches (34.6). Romero was extremely economical with his punches, with a very low output, landing a single-digit number of punches in 11 of 12 rounds (Compubox). Former opponent Shakur Stevenson spoke of Lopez’s ability on X and what makes him special: “Teo has some sort of ability to make other fighters not throw a lot of punches and move a lot more than their usual style. I seen it with Loma, Ortiz, Sandor Martin, and now Rolly. Nonetheless, Teo did what he could with the style that was presented and got the job done!”
Teo stated at the post-fight presser he felt Rolly was not active enough and did not do enough to win the fight and thus is not deserving of a rematch. Romero expressed after that fight that he felt he won and did enough to merit a rematch. However, with no rematch clause in the contract, it is unlikely one will be given.
Teo stated at the post-fight presser his ultimate goal is to become undisputed champion, saying the following, “I got four fights, well now three fights with DAZN and all are road to undisputed. We’re going right to every world title. We’re not taking no defense, no nothing, so whoever is next we’re going for them.” The other current champions in the division are (WBC) Ryan Garcia, (IBF) Liam Paro, and (WBO) Devin Haney. Only Ryan has a fight scheduled, and Garcia did express interest in fighting the winner of Romero-Lopez; however, he must first get by Conor Benn. After the fight, Paro congratulated Teo on X, saying, “Teofimo Lopez congrats, let’s unify.”
As to who he fights next remains to be seen, but Lopez did express to the media that the current champions he would like to face are Haney last and earn his undisputed designation against him due to the controversy that occurred at lightweight when Teo was not recognized as the undisputed champion at lightweight. Lopez has demonstrated throughout his career that he does not fear fighting the best and continues his search for greatness as he continues his path to becoming undisputed welterweight champion.
