Emiliano Vargas believes there’s something that he has that bothers Keyshawn Davis, creating his anger. Vargas (13-0, 11 KOs) hints that Keyshawn is envious of him.

The light welterweight contender, Vargas, 21, has garnered a large following in just three years as a professional. He believes that Keyshawn is bothered by that because that’s why he’s talking about him so much.

Fast Track to Fame

Keyshawn shouldn’t be resentful of Emiliano’s gaining stardom so fast in his career, as he recently captured the WBO lightweight title in his 13th fight. Emiliano has yet to win a belt and hasn’t faced any notable fighters as a pro. Keyshawn’s behavior is that of a person who is green with envy and can’t stand seeing the young Vargas becoming the star that he may never be.

Emiliano will be fighting a still-to-be-determined opponent on the undercard of Naoya Inoue vs. Ramon Cardenas on ESPN+ on May 4th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“Tell him to get his ticket and wait in line,” said Emiliano Vargas to Fighthype, talking about Keyshawn Davis, saying he can buy a ticket to come see his next fight on May 4th in Las Vegas. “I don’t have no belt, but there’s something that I have that bothers him. So, now he wouldn’t be talking about me,” Emiliano said about Keyshawn.

It seems obvious to some that Keyshawn is 100% bitter and envious about the praise that Emiliano, 21, has been receiving in his brief three-year career.

Keyshawn is 26, and has been signing for four years, but hasn’t attained the same popularity. Even with Top Rank skillfully maneuvering him into capturing the WBO lightweight title last February, the Norfolk, Virginia native Davis still isn’t receiving the same love from fans as the much younger Vargas.

They got Keyshawn a belt, albeit against the weakest link, Denys Berinchyk, but it hasn’t turned him into the superstar that Emiliano is rapidly becoming. Fans aren’t impressed when they see a fighter matched against a weak champion. They know when the wool has been pulled over their eyes by crafty promoters. Fans aren’t dumb.

That’s why Keyshawn’s popularity didn’t soar after he captured the WBO lightweight title. It wasn’t a good enough champion that he beat. He needs to beat someone like Gervonta Davis or his ‘brother’ Shakur Stevenson, whom he refuses to fight.

Success Breeds…

“I’m not talking about that anymore. I’m blessed. I’m looking forward to May 4th and putting on another performance,” said Emiliano. “It’s not really a beef. Now, people are starting to see who he [Keyshawn] is after interviews of me and him going at it. So, I’m just good. I’m a young man. I’m not going to be disrespecting.

“So, when you put your finger in my face, that’s a sign of disrespect. I got my mother there, my family and my sister. So, that’s really what that was. Other than that, he should be worried about his next fight [Edwin De Los Santos]. I’m worried about my next fight, but success rubs people the wrong way,” said Vargas about Davis showing signs of being bitter over his success.
