Simon Jordan backs Fabio Wardley, warns on Dubois late rounds

Simon Jordan believes Fabio Wardley is in the stronger position ahead of his WBO heavyweight title fight with Daniel Dubois, pointing to confidence, recent improvement, and lingering doubts about Dubois when fights become difficult.

Jordan said he is finding it increasingly hard to back against Wardley, even against a puncher like Dubois, for their fight this Saturday, May 9th, on DAZN PPV.

“I really struggle to see past Fabio Wardley now at the minute with anyone really because he seems to find a way. I’ve seen vulnerabilities from Daniel in the past. So I think my head sort of says, and my heart actually, I like Fabio, so I think it sort of leans that way,” said Simon to talkSport Boxing.

Jordan made clear that Dubois’ power keeps him dangerous, especially early, but suggested the fight could hinge on how long it lasts.

“Daniel Dubois is the second hardest puncher I’ve ever been in the ring with, so he’s always got a chance. His big opportunity comes in those first six rounds. If he establishes that jab, that underestimated jab, he’ll roll the dice early and take the fight to Wardley.”

Jordan revisited long-standing questions about Dubois when pressure builds late in fights, stressing that his concern is based on what he has seen rather than labels.

“I think everything the last little few months he touches turns to gold. He’s just been fantastic,” said Simon about Wardley.

The “Midas touch” Simon Jordan mentioned is exactly what makes Wardley so dangerous right now. He’s in that sweet spot of a fighter’s career where he’s no longer just a prospect but hasn’t yet reached his ceiling. He’s essentially betting on himself every time out and winning, which creates a psychological aura that can break an opponent before the first bell even rings

If Wardley lands that same overhand right or the uppercut he used on Adeleye early on Dubois, the fight changes instantly.
