The attacker burst into the football scene as a young left-sider, starring at Feyenoord before joining Real Madrid in 2007.

He played 65 times and won a LaLiga title during his time in Spain.

Drenthe later spent the 2011/12 season on loan at Everton, playing 27 games for the Toffees.

He also had spells in England with Reading and Sheffield Wednesday before bouncing between clubs.

Drenthe, who only played once for Holland, ended his career in 2023.

He has since enjoyed stints as a pundit on Dutch and Spanish TV, and most recently was working as a health worker.
