“100%, Of course. I’m going to knock his head off,” Verhoeven said to talkSport Boxing when asked about his chances. “I’m like 50, 55 pounds heavier. As soon as I hit him, it’s going to be something different.”

The former kickboxing champion is stepping into boxing to challenge Usyk, who is expected to defend the WBC heavyweight title in the bout. Verhoeven confirmed the belt will be on the line, adding to a fight that has drawn attention due to the code switch.

“Yes sir,” Verhoeven said when asked if the WBC title would be at stake, pointing to the sanctioning body’s recognition of kickboxing as part of the reasoning behind the matchup.

Verhoeven said the fight was not the original plan. Early talks centered on a bout with Anthony Joshua before that situation changed late last year following Joshua’s personal circumstances. Once that option stalled, his team moved toward Usyk as the next target.

“I love the idea. Undisputed versus undisputed,” Verhoeven said.

He also pointed to his long exposure to boxing as part of his preparation. Verhoeven said he has trained with Peter Fury for years and sparred multiple heavyweight contenders, which he believes reduces the adjustment going into a full boxing fight.

Verhoeven added that he expects to bring a different look compared to Usyk’s previous opponents, pointing to his kickboxing background as a factor.

“He hasn’t seen kickboxing angles before. That’s what I’m going to bring,” Verhoeven said. “What an opportunity I have. I’m going to shock the world,” he said.

The fight is scheduled to take place at the pyramids in Giza, marking Usyk’s return against an opponent entering from outside boxing.
