Richardson Hitchins says Gervonta Davis has been messaging him on Instagram about a potential fight, but insists there’s only one thing he wants to see.

“He writes to me on Instagram,” Hitchins told Versace Boxing. “I DM’d him, ‘Send me a contract’ if he has any real problems.”

The unbeaten IBF light welterweight champion has repeatedly called for a fight with Davis in recent months, arguing that it is one of the biggest matchups available involving American fighters. Tank has responded publicly on occasion, but Hitchins says the conversations have also continued privately through direct messages.

Hitchins made it clear that social media exchanges do not interest him unless they lead to formal negotiations.

“If he has any real problems,” Hitchins said, “send me a contract.”

A fight would require one of the champions to move divisions. Hitchins currently holds the IBF title at 140 pounds, while Davis campaigns at lightweight and is presently tied to WBA business at 135 pounds. Even so, the matchup has continued to generate fan interest because both fighters have exchanged words on social media and expressed interest in facing one another.

Whether the Instagram messages eventually lead to a signed contract remains to be seen, but Hitchins says he has already made his position clear. If Davis wants the fight, stop sending DMs and send the paperwork instead.

To some fans, Hitchins calling out Haney, Ryan, and Tank just screams of desperation to skip the line and land a lottery-ticket payday without doing the groundwork to build up his own star power.
