Reds’ Dane Myers carted off field after ridiculous catch, scary collision with wall in loss to Brewers

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Dane Myers was carted off the field after he made a ridiculous catch before colliding with the center field wall at American Family Field on Monday night.

Myers, in the fourth inning of their 5-3 loss to the Brewers, started chasing after a deep shot hit by Milwaukee first baseman Andrew Vaughn. Myers somehow managed to make the grab over his head, but he lost his balance immediately after doing so and barreled straight into the outfield wall.

Myers quickly recoiled, clearly in a lot of pain, as teammates came running over to help and call for assistance. He remained on the ground for quite some time, holding his right shoulder, before he was eventually carted off.

Myers was replaced by TJ Friedl the rest of the way. Specifics of Myers’ injury are not yet known.

Myers entered Monday night’s contest with a .252 batting average with three home runs and 13 RBI on the season. He got them on the board first on Monday with an RBI double in the first inning, too.

While the Reds were up 1-0 at the time, and ended up pushing their lead to 3-0, the Brewers rallied back and tied the game up after Brice Turang hit a solo home run in the seventh. Joey Ortiz then hit a two-run shot of his own in the eighth inning to push the Brewers to the two-run win.

The Brewers have now won six of their last eight, and lead the NL Central with a 51-31 record after Monday’s victory. The Reds now sit in last in the division with a 39-43 record.
