The Green Bay Packers have reached the playoffs in five of the past six seasons and currently have the roster to make a return in 2025.

Offensively, the Packers appear ready to challenge their NFC North rivals. With franchise quarterback Jordan Love under center, they’ve added new weapons through the draft in wide receivers Matthew Golden and Savion Williams.

But the biggest question still surrounding Green Bay is what they plan to do with veteran cornerback Jaire Alexander.

According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, the Packers and Alexander have come to a mutual understanding about his status for an eighth season in Green Bay.

“I’m told there already is an understanding in place between the Packers and CB Jaire Alexander to come to an agreement on his roster and contract situation first, prior to an arrival for the team’s offseason program, per league source,” Anderson reported. “Alexander is not currently in attendance for the Packers’ in-person workouts, per head coach Matt LaFleur. He reportedly participated in remote sessions last week. The Packers have had exploratory trade talks with other clubs involving Alexander. Releasing him is also an option. I’ve spoken to at least two teams monitoring Alexander’s status for quite some time.”

The belief around the league is that Alexander, who has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons, won’t be with the Packers by the time the 2025 season begins. The team is reportedly unwilling to carry a $24.6 million cap hit for a player who has trouble staying on the field.

In the meantime, Green Bay signed slot corner Nate Hobbs in free agency, a move that could provide a stop-gap solution if Alexander is moved. However, that would still leave the Packers needing a long-term replacement in next year’s draft. CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards believes that could be Georgia’s Daylen Everette.

“Admittedly, I was higher on Everette than most others before he announced his return to Athens,” Edwards wrote. “At 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, he looks the part and had three interceptions to his name in 2024. Green Bay signed Nate Hobbs in free agency.”

Everette will enter his fourth year with the Bulldogs in 2025. Through 42 games, he has totaled 100 tackles, five tackles for loss, one sack, four interceptions, nine pass deflections, and two forced fumbles.

If he ends up as a first-round pick, he would join a long list of Georgia defenders who’ve found early success in the NFL over the last several years.
