The Green Bay Packers have been making roster decisions all summer, whether it’s cuts, trades, or other moves they need to address. The domino with Jaire Alexander finally fell over a week ago when they decided to release him. However, he has already reached a deal with the Ravens.
The next key position to address on the roster is edge rusher. The Packers’ pass rush struggled last season, and the time to make major improvements is now. Even Kenny Clark acknowledged the team’s shortcomings and emphasized that changes must be made this year.
“Kenny Clark is very much aware of their shortcomings as one of the leaders of Green Bay’s defensive line group, and it seems there is a specific aspect of rushing the passer they will be focussing on ahead of the 2025 season,” Packers Wire’s Mark Oldacres wrote.
The Packers could make a blockbuster deal that would bring in a player capable of turning Green Bay into a Super Bowl contender. Trey Hendrickson and the Bengals have been at odds over contract talks, leading many to urge the Packers to jump in.
“The most realistic scenario involves several NFC pass rush-needy contenders pursuing Hendrickson, as Cincinnati would probably want to avoid dealing him within the conference. It works out well that the Commanders, Packers and Lions are probably the teams that best fit the need profile here,” writes Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon. “The Packers have more of a need here than the Lions and more cap room than the Commanders. Ergo, they win these sweepstakes.”
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Cincinnati is far from reaching a deal with Hendrickson.

“The Bengals would like a shorter deal. Hendrickson would like a longer deal. And they can’t even find common ground on the length of the deal right now,” Schefter said.
Hendrickson would be an instant game-changer for the Packers and would significantly boost their chances not only in the division but across the entire NFL. The edge rusher is exactly the player Green Bay has been searching for all offseason.
