Carlos Adames could be heading straight into one of the toughest fights available at 168 pounds.
Dominican boxing reporter Broadway Joel reported Friday that Adames is currently in negotiations with IBF super middleweight champion Osleys Iglesias for a fight at super middleweight.

Adames has spent the last several years campaigning at middleweight, where he held the WBC title and built a reputation as one of the division’s toughest pressure fighters. A move to 168 would place him against one of boxing’s hardest punchers immediately.
Iglesias captured the vacant IBF super middleweight title earlier this year with a stoppage win over Pavel Silyagin. The Cuban has rapidly emerged as one of the division’s most dangerous punchers and has been repeatedly mentioned as a difficult fight for many of the bigger names at 168 pounds.
Adames, meanwhile, has spent most of his recent career at middleweight and would be moving directly into title contention at 168 rather than taking a slower route through the division.
Iglesias (15-0, 14 KOs) has stopped most of his recent opponents and is viewed by many fans as one of the riskier fights currently available at 168 pounds.
A fight between Iglesias and Adames would match two aggressive fighters rather than the careful title-fight style often seen in the division. Negotiations are ongoing, and no date or location has been announced.
