Oleksandr Usyk isn’t ruling out ending his career by competing for Zuffa Boxing’s championship.

The three-time undisputed champion said he would welcome the opportunity if the new promotion makes him an offer, adding that his team has already been in contact with Dana White as he weighs the final fights of his career.

“Maybe it’s good opportunity for me if Dana, who boss Zuffa to work about this organization. Why not? Why not? It’s new belt, new opportunity. It’s good,” said Usyk to Fighthype about him fighting for Zuffa for their belt.

“I think I know my team speaks with Dana. I have met with Dana. Now we have two options for what we do next. But I have time now with my family, with my wife.”

The comments come after Usyk indicated he’s preparing to vacate his heavyweight titles to allow the next generation to compete for them. Rather than continue holding every major belt, he said he believes it’s time for younger heavyweights waiting in line to get their opportunity.

Usyk explained that he remembers waiting for his own title shot earlier in his career and wants the division to keep moving once he steps aside. He also reiterated that he believes he has just one more fight remaining before retiring from boxing.

Zuffa Boxing has aggressively entered the sport by signing fighters. Adding a boxer with Usyk’s record, even for a single fight, would immediately give the promotion one of the biggest attractions in the sport.

Usyk didn’t reveal what the second option is for his next fight, but his willingness to compete for a Zuffa title shows he’s open to finishing his career outside the traditional sanctioning-body system. If an agreement can be reached, the unbeaten Ukrainian may end his historic run by helping launch another era in heavyweight boxing.
