Speaking to Snabbare, Lapin said Usyk and his team are currently evaluating multiple opportunities and expect to make a final decision by the end of the week.
“Oleksandr has earned the right to carefully evaluate every option. We are speaking with different parties and considering all opportunities. A decision will be made by the end of this week, and everyone will know where we stand. Clarity is coming very soon,” Lapin said.
The comments come amid continued speculation about a potential fight with Agit Kabayel, although Lapin stressed that no decision will be driven by public pressure.
“Agit Kabayel is an excellent fighter, a worthy champion and a man we respect. There is nothing personal here. But fights of this magnitude are not made through social media or public pressure,” Lapin said.
Kabayel has emerged as one of the leading names linked to Usyk, but Lapin indicated that any future fight would depend on the overall package presented to the champion.
“A serious offer, backed by serious people, the right commercial structure, broadcasters and site fee support, is how the biggest fights in the world are made,” Lapin said.
The strongest indication of Usyk’s thinking came when Lapin addressed the possibility that the undefeated Ukrainian may never box again.
“But one thing people should remember: when a fighter has achieved everything Oleksandr has achieved, every appearance becomes special. It is possible that fans have already seen him in the ring for the last time. Or maybe there is still one more chapter left. We will know very soon.”
Usyk has already completed one of the most accomplished careers of the modern era, becoming the undisputed champion at cruiserweight before repeating the feat at heavyweight.
For now, his future remains unresolved. According to Lapin, that uncertainty will not last much longer.
