Those punches rarely carried enough strength to halt Sabyrkhan’s advance. The Kazakh followed him throughout the bout, applied steady pressure, and forced repeated clinches. Sabyrkhan delivered the heavier shots and controlled the direction of the fight. Four judges awarded him the decision, and he went on to capture the gold medal.
A forward lean also leaves Kamara’s head exposed when he jumps into range. Sharp light middleweights can intercept him with lead hooks or straight right hands. Elite reflexes may not be necessary because the repeated entry allows disciplined opponents to time him with jabs or short uppercuts.
His quick retreats provide protection after each combination but leave him vulnerable during the approach. Professional fighters will have more rounds to study the rhythm, attack his body, and trap him near the ropes.
The lack of power makes those habits harder to conceal. BoxRec credits Kamara with only one stoppage among 21 amateur victories. Opponents who do not respect his punches can plant their feet, wait for his jumping attack, and continue advancing after he escapes.
Kamara is only 22, but natural punchers usually display their power much earlier. Professional training can improve his balance and technique, though it is unlikely to turn him into a dangerous puncher.
Years in Britain’s amateur system should have corrected many of his other flaws by now. He still leans forward during attacks, retreats in straight lines, and holds when opponents follow him inside. Hearn can protect him from rugged pressure fighters through careful matchmaking while moving him up the rankings.
Capturing a world title without major power or a high work rate will require exceptional defensive ability. Kamara has not displayed that level yet. Matchroom’s yacht video sells a finished superstar, but the fighter seen against Sabyrkhan remains a long-term project.
