Every football player’s dream is to hear their name called on draft day. Unfortunately, not everyone can achieve their dream.
When the seven rounds of the draft end, the hope of being selected by a team also ends. The goal of making it to the NFL doesn’t die, though, as the next step for prospects is to sign with teams as undrafted free agents. This allows them to go to minicamps and training camps as long as they remain on a roster.
UDFA’s are long shots to make the regular season roster, but it can definitely happen. At the very least, they can use this experience to try and earn a practice squad spot to continue developing. Even though not being drafted is a bummer, the dream of making it to the NFL still lives.
