Alabama men’s basketball announced the addition of two staff members, and one of them is coach Nate Oats’ wife.

The Crimson Tide announced on Thursday, Sept. 3 Alex Accetta is rejoining the team as its director of program relations.

Accetta returns after she worked with the men’s basketball program from 2015 to 2022, starting as a student assistant before becoming the program’s operations coordinator in 2017 and director of operations in 2021. Oats’ tenure in Tuscaloosa began in 2021.

She then left to work with Dallas Mavericks on its guest experience and business operations from 2022 through 2026.

Oats and Accetta’s were married on July 26, 2026.

Alabama noted Accetta will be reporting to executive deputy AD, chief operating officer and men’s basketball sport administrator Shane Lyons, not Oats.

In addition to Accetta returning to the program, Alabama announced Josh Pierre has been promoted from director of operations to director of player development.
