Jacob Cozart had the top offensive performance for Akron, going 2-for-5 with a home run and a double.
The recently-promoted Jaison Chourio wasn’t too far behind, reaching base safely four times. He went 1-for-2 with three walks, although he got caught stealing home. Chourio has a .333 batting average at Double-A.
Jose Devers was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base. Alex Mooney went 2-for-4 while Jake Fox singled and walked and Nick Mitchell walked twice and stole a base.
Starting pitcher Justin Campbell’s incredible season continued, allowing one run on four hits in a season-long 5.0 innings. He struck out four and walked one.
Relievers Jack Jasiak and Jay Driver combined for 3.0 additional innings of scoreless relief to help preserve the win.
Lake County Captains 10, Beloit Sky Carp 3
Captains improve to 24-21
Jace LaViolette’s resurgence has been fun to witness. The Guardians’ first round pick in the 2025 MLB Draft went 2-for-4 with a triple and a walk. His batting average has risen to .245 and his OPS is .852 on the season.
Leadoff hitter Tommy Hawke set the table nicely, going 1-for-3 with two walks. Nolan Schubart went 2-for-5 with three RBIs while Maick Collado went 2-for-4 and Luke Hill tripled. Dean Curley also singled and walked.
Starting pitcher Braylon Doughty had a strong performance, allowing two runs on eight hits in 4.2 innings. He struck out nine and walked one.
The bullpen of Izaak Martinez, Luis Flores and Donovan Zsak combined for 4.0 innings without allowing an earned run to close out the win.

Howlers improve to 24-22
Robert Arias hit a homer and Jose Pirela hit a two-run homer.
Aidan Major got hit in the head with a line drive and had to exit. Everyone hopes he is ok. Luke Fernandez struck out the side to get the save.
