The Mets are promoting top prospect Jefferson Rojas to Triple-A Syracuse, according to a report Sunday by The Athletic’s Will Sammon.
Rojas, 21, is first in Joe DeMayo‘s latest ranking of the Mets’ top 30 prospects for the 2026 season on SNY.
In 29 games for Double-A Binghamton, Rojas slashed .280/.336/.593 with nine home runs and 29 RBI.
New York acquired Rojas from the Cubs in the Aug. 3 trade that dealt RHP Clay Holmes and LF Tyrone Taylor to Chicago.
With Chicago’s Double-A affiliate, the Knoxville Smokies, Rojas slashed .270/.339/.461 while hitting 15 home runs and driving in 57 runs over 91 games.
DeMayo’s in-depth look at Rojas from Aug. 20 outlined how the infielder could factor into the Mets’ 2027 season.
“While his skill set does not scream future star, scouts I speak to look at Rojas as a high-floor player who looks the part of a future everyday player,” DeMayo wrote. “It would not surprise me if the Mets gave Rojas a taste of Triple-A before the 2026 season ended. But even if not, he should begin the 2027 season with Triple-A and put himself in position to make his major league debut if/when an opportunity presents itself next season.”
