The Mets lost lefty Bryan Hudson on Friday, as he was claimed off waivers by the White Sox.
Hudson was DFA’d ahead of Opening Day after essentially pitching his way out of one of the final roster spots.
The southpaw seemed like a strong early-season insurance policy for New York as A.J. Minter continued working his way back from a lat injury, however, he struggled during Grapefruit League play.
He allowed six runs on five hits and three walks over just 3.1 innings of work.
The Mets decided ultimately to bring back Richard Lovelady to fill the final bullpen spot instead, and now Hudson lands with the White Sox, where he’ll look to carve out a role in their bullpen.
The other two roster casualties did, however, remain in the organization as Ben Rortvedt and Vidal Bruján cleared waivers and were outrighted to Triple-A.
