MANCHESTER UNITED have been handed a horror FA Cup third round tie against Premier League rivals Brighton.

Chelsea will travel across the Capital to the Valley for a London derby against Championship side Charlton, while Arsenal are heading to former winners Portsmouth following Monday night’s draw.

There will be four all-Premier League ties, but Manchester United do not have the best of records against domestic rivals Brighton.

The Red Devils have lost six of their last nine meetings with the Seagulls, although they did win when they last met at Old Trafford in October.

Tottenham have been handed a tough tie at home to high-flying Aston Villa.

The Midlands side knocked Spurs out of the FA Cup last season, in the fourth round, and notched a 2-1 win against Thomas Frank’s side in October.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe will also go head-to-head with former employers Bournemouth at St James’ Park.

And the final all-Premier League showdown will see Sunderland make the trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium to take on Everton.

Crystal Palace, who won the FA Cup for the first time in their history in May, will begin their defence of the trophy at non-league Macclesfield.

Manchester City, fresh from losing last season’s final against the Eagles, welcome Exeter City to the Etihad Stadium.

Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool also have a home tie against League One opposition in the form of Barnsley.

Weston-super-Mare, who are the lowest ranked side still in the competition, were not handed a glamour tie against a top flight side.

Instead, the National League South outfit will travel to Grimsby Town, who hit the headlines when they knocked Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup in August.

Fellow non-league club Boreham Wood will go to battle with the winners of tonight’s encounter between Brackley Town and Burton Albion.

The ties will be played between January 8-12.
