Keyshawn Davis says fans will see a more complete fighter when he faces Nahir Albright in their May 16 rematch at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. Davis believes his experience since winning a world title and moving to 140 pounds will become clear once the fight starts.

Davis captured the WBO lightweight title last year before missing weight ahead of his planned defense against Edwin De Los Santos. He has since moved to junior welterweight, where he stopped Jamaine Ortiz in January.

Top Rank is presenting the Albright rematch as unfinished business, especially after Albright later defeated Keyshawn’s brother, Kelvin Davis, and fought Frank Martin to a draw.

Davis believes his development since the first fight will be obvious once the rematch begins.

“I know what I need to do. I know what I need to do to get prepared. I’m a better Keyshawn now. I’m not up-and-coming anymore. I’m a former world champion. And it’s going to show on May 16. When I go in there super focused and in shape, I know nobody can hang with me.

“But even if they can hang, they’re going to get stopped too. I’m confident in myself that I can stop anybody in the ring, from 140 to 147,” Davis said following a recent training session in Las Vegas.

The Norfolk native also dismissed Albright’s recent comments about being ready for the rematch, saying confidence from opponents is expected at this stage of his career.

Davis says returning home remains one of the biggest motivations of his career despite some fighters struggling with hometown pressure.

The May 16 card will also feature Brian Norman Jr. against Josh Wagner, Kelvin Davis versus Peter Dobson, and unbeaten featherweight contender Yan Santana facing Cristian Cruz Chacon.
