The New York Jets have seen a big shift in their quarterbacks room this offseason, with the team dumping Aaron Rodgers and signing Justin Fields in free agency to add to a group that also includes Tyrod Taylor.

While Fields brings some promising traits with him to New York, the jury is still very much out on his ability to be a franchise quarterback after four years in the league. As a result, the Jets should still have their ear to the ground for a young quarterback.

In a recent article suggesting trades for several big-named NFL players, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox predicted the Jets would trade running back Breece Hall to the Tennessee Titans for quarterback Will Levis and a 2025 fourth-round pick.

  • Jets get: QB Will Levis, 2025 fourth-round pick
  • Titans get: RB Breece Hall

“In exchange for Hall, the Jets would add a fourth-round pick and a young quarterback who could push Fields over the next two seasons. It’s worth noting that Jets quarterbacks coach Charles London was Levis’ QBs coach and passing game coordinator in Tennessee in 2023,” Knox wrote.

There hasn’t been any kind of rumor that the Jets will trade Hall, but speculation has run rampant that it could happen after head coach Aaron Glenn revealed that the team will deploy a three-man committee at running back, which Hall almost certainly won’t be pleased about, especially with him going into a contract year.

Meanwhile, with the Titans expected to draft Miami’s Cam Ward with the No. 1 pick, Levis’ days in Tennessee are likely numbered. Levis showed plenty of flashes in his rookie season, but his sophomore campaign was a turnover-filled disaster.

Acquiring Levis would give the Jets some added insurance for Fields, and a possible long-term solution under center if he pans out. The Kentucky product is under contract for two more seasons, so the Jets will have time to bring him along.

Where this trade stops making sense is on the Titans’ side of things. Tennessee has two solid backs in Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears, so adding Hall would be overkill. Not to mention, the Titans would likely be getting a disgruntled player who won’t be keen on sharing the backfield the way he would have to in Tennessee, and he’d be joining a team that could be one of the worst in the NFL next season.

On top of all that, the Titans are a rebuilding team that can ill-afford to give up any draft capital, especially for a possible one-year rental. Trading for Hall is a move a team that is ready to compete would make, something the Titans are not.
