Jaron “Boots” Ennis (34-0, 30 KOs) makes his super welterweight debut tonight against Uisma “Monstro” Lima (14-1, 10 KOs) at the newly named Xfinity Mobile Arena. Boots weighed nearly a pound under, coming in at 153.4 pounds, while Lima weighed an even 153.

The added weight will greatly benefit Ennis. He’ll be stronger, and he’ll look to make a statement by seeking to prove he’s the one to beat in this division. Eddie Hearn has spoken of a potential match against  Vergil Ortiz in 2026, if both are successful in their upcoming matches.

Ortiz has a match against the very game Erickson Lubin next month, on November 8, in Dallas, Texas. Hearn stated at yesterday’s weigh-in that Boots can essentially beat all the top-level competition at 154 – Sebastian Fundora, Bakhram Murtazaliev, Xander Zayas, and Vergil Ortiz. To challenge them, however, he must first defeat Lima and do so convincingly.

Lima fought valiantly against Aaron McKenna, taking the fight on short notice, but suffered his first loss in that match. Uisma is a pressure fighter with good volume, but he tends to slow down in the mid to late rounds. He’ll definitely be tested against Ennis, and if his conditioning is not up to par, he will not survive the match.

Boots is a brilliant body puncher ,and attacking the body against Uisma will be advantageous and allow him to inflict the most damage possible against a fighter with poor stamina. McKenna also exposed Lima’s agility. He does not do well against mobile boxers. A weakness Jaron should be able to expose strategically.

Ennis has said he’s not here to play games and wants to make quick work of Lima. He must be careful not to underestimate the Monstro, as he does possess decent power. Although he may  not have the experience Boots has, fighting in his 16 professional bout. He does have the ability to surprise him with a potentially timed counter. Ennis had various sparring partners to prepare for this match, which included Canelo Alvarez and Jack Catterall. He is very well prepared and conditioned for the match. The added weight will give him more power, but he’s also facing stronger opponents at 154.

Karen Chukhadzhian was able to land many clean punches against Ennis in the second match. If he gives Lima that same opportunity, he’ll be exposing himself to unneeded damage against a decent puncher. This is the greatest threat for Boots in the match: underestimating his

opponent and allowing him to land easy punches. Although he defeated both Chukhadzhian and Eimantas Stanionis, they both were able to land over 30 percent of their total punches.  Defensively, Jaron has been sluggish, and he cannot afford to be lax going forward, especially if he intends to challenge top-level competition going forward. If Boots performs to expectations, he should make quick work of Lima and end it with a knockout.
