Janibek Alimkhanuly posted on social media today, asking Turki Alalshikh to help make a unification fight between him and WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames happen on November 22nd in Riyadh.

IBF and WBO 160-lb champion Janibek (16-0, 12 KOs) and Adames (24-1-1, 18 KOs) reportedly had been in negotiations for a unification fight on the November 22nd card on DAZN PPV. However, the clash failed to happen with Turki telling Ring Magazine that he couldn’t negotiate with Adames, and had “wasted his time.”

Janibek doesn’t want to give up on the fight against Adames, and he hopes Turki can revisit the negotiations to broker a deal potentially. Yesterday, Alimkhnuly scolded Adames “for living in the past” when he posted an old picture of him and Sergiy Derevyanchenko on X.

It’s unclear why the 31-year-old Adames chose to post a photo of himself and Derevyanchenko from their fight in 2021. That’s the distant past, and Adames should be moving forward with his career.

At some point, Janibek needs to forget about Adames and view of him as a lost cause and move on. It seems pretty obvious to people that he’s wasting his time. Adames hasn’t shown much desire to fight him.

The price he would want will likely be out of range for even Turki to want to pay for this fight. If the match did happen, it would be on the undercard of David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde on November 22nd, and would likely be buried deep in the card at the sixth spot beneath these fights:

  • David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde
  • Brian Norman Jr. vs. Devin Haney
  • Abdullah Mason vs. Sam Noakes
  • Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez vs. Fernando Martinez
  • Artur Beterbiev vs. Deon Nicholson
