When it comes to a developmental rookie like Seattle Seahawks quarterback Jalen Milroe, teams are just looking for signs that the youngster is moving in the right direction.
Well, the Seahawks got that from Milroe on Tuesday during the team’s first practice of mandatory minicamp, which was moved up a week after head coach Mike Macdonald decided to scrap the remainder of OTAs.
According to multiple Seahawks reporters, Milroe had his best practice of the entire offseason, at least of the ones that have been open to the media.
“Rookie third-round draft pick Jalen Milroe had a very good day throwing the ball at Seahawks minicamp today,” Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune wrote. “The best of the four practices open to the media this offseason.”
“Thought Jalen Milroe had his best practice so far for Seahawks today,” Corbin K. Smith of the Emerald City Spectrum reported. “Had a beautiful touchdown pass to undrafted rookie Tyrone Broden in 7-on-7.”

Milroe has a great opportunity to be special in the NFL. We know about his off-the-charts athleticism, now it’s about developing as a passer. If he can accomplish that, Milroe is going to be incredibly dangerous
While Milroe isn’t expected to be more than No. 3 on the team’s quarterback depth chart with both Sam Darnold and Drew Lock in front of him, Seattle is planning on using his elite athleticism in a package of plays.
“Seattle envisions Milroe playing a few plays per game in packages that will take advantage of his running ability,” ESPN’s Brady Henderson reported.
Milroe will have all of 2025 to continue to develop, and he can do so without much pressure as the veterans hold down the quarterback position.
Once 2026 rolls around, the Seahawks will have to decide if they’re going to roll with Milroe or stick with Sam Darnold, who has an out in his contract after this season.
