Jake Paul Questions Dana White’s Belt Policy

Jake Paul questioned Dana White and Zuffa Boxing’s position on the sport’s sanctioning bodies after White confirmed his fighters will be able to pursue the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO titles on a “case-by-case basis.”

White made the comments following Saturday night’s Zuffa Boxing 09 event, explaining that championship opportunities will depend on what individual fighters want to accomplish.

“On a case by case basis, trying to figure out what the fighters want and what their goals are, we’ll try to figure out how to make those fights happen,” White said during the post-fight press conference.

Paul contrasted those remarks with the criticism White and other UFC executives have directed at boxing’s sanctioning bodies over the years.

“They went from shitting on all of the boxing sanctioning bodies and how they need to get rid of them for the good of boxing to now this,” Paul posted on X.

“Truth is we need to further align promoters and the sanctioning bodies to create the biggest opportunities for boxers. That should be the goal.

“More transparency, more collaboration and more big fights.”

White previously promoted the idea of moving away from boxing’s traditional championship structure when Zuffa Boxing was launched. His latest comments suggest a more flexible approach, particularly if pursuing one of the four recognized world titles helps secure the fights a boxer wants.

The policy leaves room for Zuffa’s own championship plans while avoiding unnecessary restrictions on its roster. It also reflects the practical reality that many of boxing’s leading fighters still measure success by winning one of the established world titles, making cooperation with the sanctioning bodies difficult to avoid if Zuffa intends to deliver the marquee fights fans want most.
