“Canelo, I have the $200 million for you, easy money. Jake vs. Canelo, let’s get it done. This is what the fans have been waiting for. This is the biggest fight that could possibly be made in boxing,” said Jake Paul.

Paul then claimed the Mexican star sounded interested during a phone conversation.
“Canelo said he’s down on the phone. So, we’re going to make it happen. I have the $200 million. I think that’s going to be the next fight. Sign the contract, Canelo. Much respect to you. Lets make the biggest fight in boxing happen,” said Paul.

The reaction online was immediate because the number sounded almost impossible for a fight involving a YouTuber coming off a knockout loss. Paul was stopped in six rounds by Anthony Joshua last December and later revealed he suffered a broken jaw that required surgery.
That is part of why many fans see this as more promotional noise than a serious negotiation.

Even huge Saudi-backed events rarely involve a clean $200 million purse for one fighter. Most mega-fights are built around site fees, sponsorship deals, streaming rights, and pay-per-view revenue rather than one giant guaranteed payment.

There is also the issue of timing. Canelo is already expected to return in September against Christian Mbilli, making a sudden Jake Paul fight difficult to picture unless enormous outside money suddenly appears.

Still, Paul understands how boxing promotion works in 2026. Mentioning Canelo’s name instantly creates headlines, clips, debate, and social media traffic even if the fight never gets close to reality.
