Shakur Stevenson will be helping out Jake Paul with sparring to get him ready for his 10-round exhibition match against Gervonta Davis on November 14, 2025, at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.

Jake is focusing on training to increase his speed, which is why he’s chosen lightweight champion Shakur, Montana Love, and super featherweight Ray Ford. He’s losing muscle, so he punches faster for the Tank fight.

Business Minds Meet

Shakur says working with Jake Paul will allow him to “pick a great business mind” to learn from him. The obvious thing for Stevenson to do without Paul is to stay in the pocket more and focus on fighting the killers at 135, rather than playing it safe against lesser fighters. He’s never going to be a star by running around the ring, fighting electricians like Josh Padley.

Stevenson has been his own worst enemy with his matchmaking and fighting style. That’s not something Jake Paul can fix unless Shakur is willing to change.

“We have world champions. Ray Ford from the 130-pound weight class. We’ve got Montana Love, and Shakur Stevenson is coming in this week,” said Jake Paul to TMZ Sports about the sparring partners he has to prepare him for his exhibition match against Gervonta Davis on November 14th.

Paul vs. Davis will be shown live on Netflix in at a maximum weight of 195 pounds. It’s a match where Jake is going to have to figure out a way to deal with Tank’s speed advantage.

Undercard

  • Alycia Baumgardner vs. Leila Beaudoin
  • Gary Antuanne Russell vs. Andy Hiraoka
  • Cherneka Johnson vs. Amanda Galle
  • Yokasta Valle vs. Yadira Bustillos

Jake’s Speed Blueprint

“So, there’s sparring against guys on his level and people who have been doing this their whole entire lives, but we’re really focusing on speed and not as much on power. I’m not doing as much weight lifting and all of that stuff.

“I’m kind of like losing some muscle so that I’ll have less weight and my punches are coming off faster,” said Paul.
