Jacob Misiorowski strikes out 11 of first 12 batters vs. Rockies

Jacob Misiorowski has become must-see television when he takes the mound.

The second-year starting pitcher got the nod on Sunday for the Milwaukee Brewers as they ended a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies.

Misiorowski was on fire to begin the game, with 13 pitches faster than 100 mph in the first inning alone. The Rockies struggled at the plate early to figure him out, and the Brewers ace struck out 11 of the first 12 batters he faced in the game.

The lone Colorado player who didn’t strike out in the first four innings was right fielder Tory Johnston, who flew out to center field. The Brewers starter had struck out seven batters in a row before Johnston put one into play.

Misiorowski has thrown 53 pitches through four innings of work. For those wondering, the record for strikeouts in a 9-inning game is 20 strikeouts, held by Roger Clemens, Kerry Wood, Randy Johnson and Max Scherzer.

The pitcher has started 19 games this season. He has tallied a 10-4 record with a 1.57 ERA, currently leading MLB.

Misiorowski set the record earlier this season by throwing the fastest pitch by a starting pitcher in MLB history at 105.5 mph. He also set the record for most 100+ mph pitches in a single game with 57 against the St. Louis Cardinals back in May.

The second-year starter is considered a frontrunner for the NL Cy Young Award if he is able to maintain this dominance through the end of the season.
