Build a five-pitch arsenal among the Pitchers who are currently on the Phillies. No one else, just the thirteen pitchers currently on the roster (or Phillies pitchers on the injured list because someone might get hurt by the time this comes out).

You will get the pitch traits, their arm slot for that particular pitch or pitches, but you have to project it’s performance with how it fits the entire arsenal and the game plan you might come up with. Do not worry about potential tipping. Max Lazar’s fastball can pair with Brooks Raley’s sweeper without hitters being able to pick it up. Don’t worry about right-handed or left-handed pitcher issues either. Assume the pitcher is right-handed or declare this mystery character is a lefty.

Also, stick to only one pitch per pitcher. Don’t just pick Jhoan Duran’s entire arsenal or multiple pitches from someone else. It’s more fun when you spread the wealth.

My picks:

  • Cristopher Sánchez’s Changeup

I don’t know if this the best arsenal to come up with but I have all of the things I want. Bowlan’s four-seam gives me a fastball that can live high in the zone, Wheeler’s sinker can work inside off of it. Pairing an east-west combination with Luzardo’s sweeper will sound weird because they end in the same spot, but remember the generated pitcher is right handed. Sanchez’s changeup works below the zone and Duran’s curveball gives me a pitch that can be spiked in the dirt.

I’m not too worried about using a breaking pitch to steal strikes, Luzardo can backdoor a sweeper as well as anyone.

What are you guys picking?
