ROY KEANE insists former Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo knew what he was getting into when he joined the club.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis gave the Portuguese gaffer his marching orders on Monday night.

Marinakis has already replaced Nuno, handing the reins at the City Ground to former Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou.

The writing was well and truly on the wall for Nuno late last month when he publicly revealed that his relationship with his boss had deteriorated.

So the news that he’d been handed his P45 came as no surprise to former Forest midfielder Keane.

The ITV pundit said of Nuno’s sacking: “I’m not surprised.

“Why should we be surprised about what happens at Nottingham Forest?

“I think we know what the owner’s like. No surprises.

“And I’ve no sympathy for any manager, either, that goes to Forest.

“Listen, you’re going to be under pressure with the owner there.

“So I certainly wasn’t surprised when they moved him on. Yeah, it’s tough.”

Postecoglou, 60, has taken charge of Forest a mere three months after his Tottenham sacking – which came just days after he guided them to Europa League glory.

Nottingham Forest’s swap from Nuno to Ange Postecoglou is total culture shift like reversing the polarity of the planet

And Marinakis believes the Aussie is the right man to take the Midlands club forward.

He said: “We are bringing a coach to the club who has a proven and consistent record of winning trophies.

“His experience of coaching teams at the highest level, along with his desire to build something special with us at Forest, makes him a fantastic person to help us on our journey and achieve consistently all our ambitions.

“After gaining promotion to the Premier League, then building consistently season after season to secure European football, we now must take the right step to compete with the very best and challenge for trophies.

“Ange has the credentials and the track record to do this, and we are excited he is joining us on our ambitious journey.”

Forest will kick off the Postecoglou era on Saturday afternoon away to title challengers Arsenal.
