As the Guardians 2026 season sits on what feels like the precipice of disaster, the news of Chase DeLauter hitting the 10-Day IL was unwelcomed to say the least. However, with this dark cloud of injuries does come the ray of sunshine that is the highly anticipated call-up of Kahlil Watson.

Hopefully Watson’s bat can give some added offense to the otherwise struggling Guardians lineup. Despite Daniel Schneeman’s grand slam last night, the Guardians still lost by a score of 9-4. If you want to read the full recap, Nick has it here.

One other bright spot last night was the debut of Daniel Espino. Words cannot describe how excited fans should be that Espino is finally pitching with Cleveland, and what beautiful pitching he showed last night.

One final piece of good news, Erik Sabrowski made a rehab appearance with the AA Akron RubberDucks last night. Sabrowski started for Akron in a delayed first pitch. A fielding error allowed the lead off hitter to reach and Sabrowski gave up a walk. However, in his 20 pitches of work, Sabrowski struck out 2 batters before being replaced.

The All-Star game will see a change to the HR Derby. The Athletic reports that the HR Derby will do away with the clock and return to a swing based system.
