The New York Giants offense now features an intriguing backfield tandem.
As Tyrone Tracy Jr. is coming off a strong rookie campaign, New York decided to begin Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft by adding a counterpart.
In the fourth round, at No. 105 overall, the Giants selected Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo. It was a selection that was highly praised by Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News, who named the former Sun Devil among the top steals in the draft.
“The Giants had been tied to adding Skattebo’s relentless power running to help their new-look QB room of Jaxson Dart, Russell Wilson, and Jameis Winston. Skattebo is the needed early-down and red-zone complement to Tyrone Tracy Jr,” Iyer wrote.
Skattebo’s size at 219 pounds certainly makes him a candidate to be the early-down and goal-line back for the Giants, but his work as a receiver should not be slept on either.
The Giants offense has some intriguing pieces all around, but it will come down to what they get out of Russell Wilson, who developed some warts down the stretch last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Adding Skattebo to the backfield was a strong move even if the Giants still have some question marks along the offensive line, especially within the interior.
But there’s a good chance Skattebo becomes an impact player from the jump as he and Tracy split time in the backfield.
