Frank Warren believes Tyson Fury will not only defeat Anthony Joshua when the long-awaited heavyweight showdown finally takes place, but stop him.
The all-British clash is targeted for November after being delayed from an earlier summer date. Warren confirmed Fury signed for the fight back in January, with both men expected to come through interim bouts before the contest becomes official.
Asked how he sees the fight unfolding, Warren made it clear he expects Fury to emerge victorious and pointed to Joshua’s knockout loss to Daniel Dubois as a major factor.
“I think Tyson wins,” said Warren to Secondsout, predicting a knockout for Tyson Fury over Joshua.
“I think Tyson will stop him.
“Did you see him fight Daniel Dubois? That’s what gives me that confidence. I was confident Daniel Dubois was going to do that, and he did it, and I’m confident Tyson will do the same thing in as quick time, whatever catches him going.”
Earlier in the interview, Warren also suggested Joshua still carries the effects of the Dubois defeat.
“He’s got that specter and that cloud over him of what happened when he fought against Daniel Dubois. So, you know, he’s vulnerable if he gets caught now,” said Warren.
Joshua is scheduled to return on July 25 against Kristian Pregna, while Fury is expected to have a warm-up fight of his own before November. Warren said the venue for the proposed blockbuster has not yet been finalized, though he confirmed the fight remains signed and on course to take place later this year, provided both heavyweights win their respective outings.
