Another day, another comeback as the Philadelphia Phillies (76-60) took their second straight victory against the Los Angeles Angels (52-84).
Cristopher Sanchez pitched one of his best starts of the season, allowing two hits and a walk over seven innings with eight strikeouts in a no decision.
The Phillies got on the board first against Angels’ starter, Ryan Johnson, in the second inning with lead-0ff single by Alec Bohm, a walk by Bryson Stott and an RBI-hit by Brandon Marsh.
Sanchez, Johnson and company held serve for seven innings until Jonathan Bowlan allowed a game-tying solo homer by Zach Neto in the bottom of the eighth.
Jhoan Duran preserved the tie and brought the game to extras, where the Phillies pulled ahead with an RBI double by Schwarber and a two-RBI single by Trea Turner.
Duran did allow another run to score on a fielder’s choice by Wade Meckler, but held on to put things away on a pair of fly outs.
The Phillies go for the sweep tomorrow afternoon as Zack Wheeler faces off against Yusei Kikuchi.
