Eddie Hearn says he wants to see Filip Hrgovic face Moses Itauma next, after reports surfaced that Queensberry is targeting the heavyweight fight for August.

Hearn praised Hrgovic as a world-class heavyweight but still backed Itauma to win the fight because of his speed and sharpness. He also described the matchup as the first genuine top-level test of Itauma’s career.

“He’s a good fighter,” Hearn said to Pro Boxing fans when talking about Hrgovic. “I think Hrgovic is a world-class heavyweight. He’s elite. I think he’s close to it. There was one stage where I thought he was really close to it.

“He’s going to fight Itauma now. I think it’s a good fight. I think Moses will be much too sharp for him. But I think it’s a proper chance. I think it’s Moses’s first real test.”

Hearn later made it clear he expects the fight to move forward.

“He’s fighting Moses Itauma, apparently,” Hearn said. “It’s a good fight.”

Hrgovic also welcomed the matchup afterward and said he is ready to face anyone in the division if he is medically cleared following Saturday night’s win.

“We never saw him in a competitive fight where he’s getting punched as well,” said Hrgovic to Secondsout about Itauma. “We never saw him receive a hard punch, actually, in his whole career. Moses is a great boxer. He showed great speed, great technique. But we never saw him in trouble.”

The comments came after Queensberry promoter George Warren also confirmed earlier in the evening that Itauma-Hrgovic is one of the targeted options for Itauma’s next fight in August.
