Filip Hrgovic Says Dave Allen Has “Loser Mentality”

Hrgovic strongly disagreed and mocked Allen’s attitude toward the fight while discussing his opponent this week.

“Yeah, that’s his loser mentality. What he got his whole career. That’s why he got 10 losses and I have one loss,” said Hrgovic to iFL TV.

“That’s just loser mentality. Just moving pressure off himself like, ‘I’m a boy from Doncaster. I’m just here to put on a good fight. I don’t need to win. Pressure is on him.’

“You know, that’s loser mentality. So okay, I’ll take the pressure. I must win. I’m a winner.

“So he’s always had that kind of mentality. ‘I’m fat. I don’t train. I don’t need to win. I’m short.’ Come on, man. Don’t do excuses your whole life. Just train, be professional and go for the win.

“I expect him to be the best version of himself because it’s a great opportunity for him and it’s his hometown. I expect him to be in good shape.

“I think I’m definitely a harder fight for him than Zhang. Zhang is old, man.

“I can be fat as well if I don’t train and if I drink beer. I can be fat and be a journeyman and come to every fight and just say, ‘I don’t need to win. I’m here to put on a good fight.’

“I think I’m better. I’m faster. I’m better in all aspects of the fight. But you know, it’s heavyweight boxing. Everything can happen and he’s a brave guy. He’s always coming forward and coming to fight. So I think it will be a good fight.”

Hrgovic enters the fight after a difficult recent run that included physical fights against Daniel Dubois, Joe Joyce, and David Adeleye. He defeated Joyce and Adeleye after the Dubois loss, with both wins coming after hard rounds and heavy exchanges.

The fight will headline Saturday’s heavyweight card in Doncaster.
